differentiation
Definition:
Differentiation is the process of distinguishing and integrating distinct aspects of the psyche, such as the ego, shadow, and anima/animus. It is a key aspect of individuation, promoting self-awareness and psychological maturity.
Example:
Helping clients differentiate between their conscious beliefs and unconscious drives allows for greater self-understanding and balance. For example, recognising the influence of the shadow can lead to more authentic relationships.
