Definition:
Dissociation is the psychological separation of certain thoughts, feelings, or memories from conscious awareness. In Jungian terms, it is often a defence mechanism that arises from trauma or overwhelming unconscious content.
Example:
Identifying and addressing dissociation allows clients to reintegrate fragmented aspects of their psyche, fostering healing and wholeness. For instance, reconnecting with repressed emotions can reduce feelings of detachment or numbness.
